About the distillery

Bunnahabhain stands apart from many Islay distilleries through its traditionally lighter peat influence and emphasis on maritime elegance rather than aggressive smoke. Located on the island’s remote northeastern coast, it produces whiskies often associated with coastal salinity, nuts, dried fruit and a softer texture than southern Islay malts. Older sherried expressions in particular have developed a strong reputation among enthusiasts seeking a more restrained interpretation of Islay.
