About the distillery

Caol Ila is one of Islay’s largest distilleries and a major supplier of peated malt for blends, though its single malts have gained increasing recognition in their own right. Its style is generally more precise and linear than the heavier southern Islay malts, emphasizing clean smoke, ash, citrus and maritime freshness over medicinal intensity. The distillery’s location overlooking the Sound of Islay contributes strongly to its coastal identity.
